The Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund of Kitsap County was established in 1972 to provide scholarships to needy and capable students in the county. Lillian Walker, Albert Colvin and Ed Pietras are a few of the community members who founded the scholarship fund. Due to the deaths of several of the founding members and in accordance with the organization’s bylaws, the Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund of Kitsap County has been transferred to the Olympic College Foundation permanent endowment. Scholarships from this fund will be available to students who meet the application criteria.
Students will be able to apply for these scholarship funds by using the Olympic College Foundation General Scholarship application found at OC’s Web site, www.olympic.edu.
People are welcome to contribute to the fund by sending donations to the Olympic College Foundation and designating “The Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund” in the memo field of the check. For more information, contact Joan Hanten at (360) 475-7120.
