Mary Ann Hill, a Poulsbo resident since birth, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 19. She was 78.

POULSBO —  Mary Ann Hill, a Poulsbo resident since birth, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 19.  She was 78.

She was born Sept. 1, 1932 and grew up in the family farmhouse on Big Valley Road, Poulsbo, to Bill and Ida Bloom. Her next-door neighbor became her high school sweetheart  and husband for 62 years, Wally Hill.

Mary Ann was a 1950 graduate of North Kitsap High School. She worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard  design department,  Keyport Torpedo Station, the Yarn Barn and was co-owner and then full owner of Poulsbo’s Fun With Fabric.

She was involved in many ministries through the years. At Breidablik Community Church, she taught Sunday School and played piano for worship time for 35 years.

At Christ Memorial Church (now Gateway Fellowship), Mary Ann helped with Vacation Bible School, led Martha’s Helpers sewing ministry, played in the bell choir, sang in the choir, and worked at Royal Family Kids Camp. She was known as a people helper.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bud and Dick Bloom. Surviving are her husband, Wally Hill;  brother-in-law, Jim Hill; sister-in-law, Virginia Nurse; niece, Mona; nephew, Bob Bloom.

Memorial service will be Aug. 2, 2 p.m., at Gateway Fellowship. Honorariums preferred to Royal Family Kids Camp,  c/o Gateway Fellowship, 18901 8th Ave. NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Poulsbo Mortuary, Poulsbo.
