PORT ORCHARD — It’s taken some time to fit all the pieces in place, but McCormick Village Park is now open — just in time for spring.
The City of Port Orchard announced last week that the $1.4 million park, which had its ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 21, is now open to the public, now that the wide expanse of grass settled in and contractors have finished their punch list of items to be completed.
The park now features new sidewalks and paths, an entry plaza, a pedestrian bridge, picnic shelters, play areas and play structures, fenced dog park areas, paved parking stalls and new landscaping. Perhaps the most awaited item is a splash pad water-play feature that should be a welcome relief during hot stretches during the summer.
The new part is near the entrance to McCormick Woods Golf Club on Old Clifton Road.
