PORT ORCHARD — Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeffrey Menge was advanced to the grade of sheriff’s lieutenant. He was previously assigned as a patrol shift team supervisor. In his new role, Menge will assume duties as the sheriff’s administrative and support services lieutenant within the investigations and support services division. He will be responsible for the sheriff’s reception and call-receiving section, records processing, storage and retrieval functions and management of the sheriff’s quartermaster system.
Menge fills the position vacancy created with the appointment of Mark Rufener from sheriff’s lieutenant to chief of division and assignment to command the sheriff’s corrections division and the Kitsap County Jail.
“I am very pleased, once again, that this agency has been able to succeed in accomplishing a very important goal: that of preparing our deputies to be successful as they advance in grade and responsibility,” said Sheriff Gary Simpson.
Menge began his service with the sheriff’s office in 2003. He is a 1996 graduate of Southern Oregon University with a bachelor of science degree in political science. He earned a juris doctorate from Seattle University School of Law in 1999.
