Amy Miller has filed paperwork to challenge incumbent Fred Olin for Position 5 on the Port Orchard City Council.

Miller has served on the board and as president of the Port Orchard MOMS Club. She organized the local Daddy Daughter Dance in 2010.

Miller is a member of several parks interest groups including the McCormick Village Park subcommittee.

She assisted with the design of the new playground at Central Park.

She also worked with Kitsap County Parks & Recreation during the planning phase of the playground update at South Kitsap Regional Park.

“Port Orchard is a wonderful place to raise a family,” Miller said, “but I think it could be even better.

“I want to be a voice for Port Orchard families and represent their interests as our city continues to grow,” she added. “I want to see Port Orchard become a business and recreation destination. I will bring enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to the council, and I’m really excited at the opportunity to serve the community.”

Miller is a lifelong resident of Washington and has lived in Port Orchard for five years.

She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in animal science.

She left a career in the pet supply industry to be a stay at home mother to her two daughters, ages 7 and 5.
