A memorial celebration of life for Miriam Laney Dorsey will be held on July 2, 2011 at 1 p.m., where she loved to live: The Dorsey Seagulley, 38675 Hood Canal Drive NE, Hansville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn, in 2004. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Christine), Hansville; Harriet Cole (Jerry), Vancouver, Wash.; and Marvin (Angela), Bloomington, Minn. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Christy Cole (Sarah), Dillingham, Alaska; Tony Cole, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Cory Cole, Seattle, Wash.
Miriam was born May 3, 1924 in Caldwell, Idaho, raised in Yakima, Wash., graduated from Oregon State College in 1947. She met her husband at Oregon State and they married Sept. 12, 1948. Miriam’s dream to own beach property was fulfilled in 1959 with the purchase of the Seagulley. Summer vacations and early retirement were spent there. She was a member of the Hansville Community Church, where she occasionally would play the organ on Sundays.
Miriam died Sept. 9, 2010 in Vancouver, Wash.
