The body of a missing Silverdale pilot was found near wreckage of his plane Sunday, in a search that started Nov. 23. The 2004 Citabria Scout single engine airplane belonging to Richard E. Nims was located in a remote area southwest of Bremerton by a team using a search dog, according to a statement from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. The county coroner’s office identified the body as Nims. Nims took off from Apex Airpark west of Silverdale on Wednesday, Nov. 17 without filing a flight plan. The 74-year-old was reported to be a retired military and commercial aviation pilot. Archived radar data showed an aircraft flight track over the Bremerton Watershed, a wooded area within the city limits. A ground search began Nov. 27. Nims’ body was found the next day.
