KINGSTON — A female motorist reported her passenger side window was shot out Nov. 7. No one was injured in the incident, the third of its kind reported to the Washington State Patrol.
Last week, a man in North Kitsap reported his car window was shattered, possibly by BB gun shot, and a Central Kitsap man’s car was damaged by a bottle thrown off a pedestrian overpass.
The woman’s car window was shattered as she drove on Highway 307 toward Poulsbo. State Patrol spokesperson Krista Hedstrom said she doesn’t think the incidents are related, as the methods and locations are so different.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous and lives in Poulsbo, was driving on Highway 307 toward Poulsbo around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7.
“I heard a really loud bang,” she said. “At first I thought I had a [tire] blowout.”
She saw glass falling from her passenger window onto the seat. She suspected her window had been shot at, and called the police. Washington State Patrol responded, and advised her to move her car under a street light, warning that “sometimes there’s a follow-up shot.”
Hedstrom was not able to release a report on the incident, as no evidence was found at the scene indicating what caused the window to shatter, and no witness besides the driver could say what happened.
“Someone could have easily been killed,” the driver said. “It was scary.”
The driver said she wanted to let residents know so they may report similar incidents.
