People have the opportunity to travel back in time and board the Titanic, thanks to Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area.
Soroptimist is hosting a Titanic-themed murder mystery dinner and auction Friday, Nov. 6 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel. Social hour is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the dinner, auction and mystery are 6:30 to 10 p.m.
“It’s a good, fun kind of thing. It’s affordable, it’s local and it supports the community,” Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area President Deborah Horn said.
Proceeds raised at the event go to the Bremerton Soroptimist organization, which supports local women and girls.
“We’re primarily women at our best supporting women to be their best,” Horn said.
Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area supports organizations such as the YWCA ALIVE Shelter, Salvation Army, Girl Scouts of Western Washington and Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County’s Women Build.
“There’s just a lot of opportunities for women of all ages to get involved and the most important thing is to have fun doing it,” Horn said.
The organization always does a dinner and auction, but the group decided to spice it up this year with the murder mystery.
“Our planning group thought it’d be fun and different,” Horn said.
Participants will receive their character information a week to 10 days before the event and are encouraged to dress the part.
“That’s part of the fun, to get dressed up and sort of wrapped up in the event,” Horn said.
Murder mystery clues will be woven into the silent auction tables, which will feature items like Seattle Seahawks tickets, hotel stays, dinners and gift baskets.
“I think we’re all excited to make it a successful event,” Horn said.
People must RSVP by Oct. 23 to Jenny at (360) 876-7825 or e-mail jelliott@kitsapbank.com or online at www.murdernmayhem.com/events. Tickets are $50 per person.
