The Port of Poulsbo called in the Poulsbo Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard Friday, Aug. 16 and Tuesday, Aug. 20 to report a mysterious fuel spill in Liberty Bay.
Port employees were first alerted to the fuel spill by one of their licensees that a diesel sheen was coming in toward D-Dock, right off the building that houses The Loft and the Brass Kraken.
After a thorough investigation of the marina and surrounding breakwater area, Port officials said they believe the spill had occurred outside the port and was being washed in.
“We went out to find the source of the leak and found that the fuel was dissipating very quickly,” Petty Officer Trevor Lilburn said.
“We checked out all of the vessels in the surrounding area and could not locate the source of the leak.”
