Young innovators in Port Orchard will have the opportunity to explore creativity and problem-solving this summer as Camp Invention arrives at Hidden Creek Elementary School the week of July 21.
The nationally recognized STEM enrichment camp is designed for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, offering hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, confidence and innovation. The program, led by local educators, is a partnership between the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
This year’s program features four interactive modules:
• In Control: Campers design their own road trip, making creative decisions along the way.
• Illusion Workshop: Kids explore the science behind optical illusions and perception.
• Claw Arcade: Participants build and engineer a working claw machine from cardboard.
• Penguin Launch: Campers embark on an eco-expedition to study penguins and Antarctica’s icy environment.
Camp Invention operates in over 2,600 schools nationwide, serving 140,000 students each year. Since its founding in 1990, the program has reached over 3 million children.
