BREMERTON — A preliminary draft of the Naval Base Kitsap and Naval Magazine Indian Island Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) Report is available for public review on the JLUS project website at www.kiijlus.com.
The draft report includes preliminary recommendations to address the various compatibility issues that were identified during the first series of community workshops conducted last September.
The second set in a series of community workshops have also been scheduled for Feb. 24 in Bremerton to allow the public an opportunity to review and comment on the preliminary draft of the JLUS Report.
The workshop will also provide an opportunity for the public to discuss issues and ask questions with members of the JLUS development team.
The primary goal of the JLUS is to find compatibility between Navy operations and community development.
It also seeks to minimize the Navy’s impact on the environment and community.
The community workshop is scheduled for 5:30-7 p.m. in the Bremerton City Council Chambers in the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 6th St.
