No one was injured after a bullet was accidentally shot into a Bremerton preschool May 3.
A 28-year-old Bremerton man was cleaning his rifle when there was an accidental discharge that had a bullet shoot into Kitsap Child Care and Preschool at about 10:06 a.m. The preschool is next door to the man’s house in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Avenue. The man notified the school and called police immediately after the bullet of his AR-15 rifle went through his bedroom wall. He said he has been handling firearms for years and nothing like that had ever happened before. He added that it was a complete accident and offered to provide police with the rifle.
The room where the 0.223 caliber full metal jacket bullet landed was in a class that is normally occupied by children but at that time they were elsewhere. The report was forwarded to the city prosecutor.
