PORT GAMBLE FALL FESTIVAL: Port Gamble will embrace the harvest with a fall festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Port Gamble Plateau on Puget Way NE. The festival offers family fun with pumpkin flinging contests, hay rides, live country music, fresh apple cider and more. The chili cook off will feature home-style chili from more than 10 local cooks. Bottomless samples of chili are $5.
VETERANS STAND DOWN: A free stand down for veterans and their families will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Presidents Hall at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. DISPLAY OF RELIGIOUS ITEMS: Kingston’s Redeemer United Methodist Church will host an exhibit of traditional Ethiopian orthodox religious items on Sunday, Oct. 3, as part of its World Communion Sunday commemoration. Ethiopian crosses, with their ornate decorative motifs, have long been a staple of religious life in that nation. Redeemer UMC will display a dozen crosses from private collections as well as an Ethiopian icon of St. George and the Dragon. LUTEFISK DINNER: First Lutheran Church Of Poulsbo’s 98th annual lutefisk dinner fundraiser will be from 11:40 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Christian Center, next to the large white church overlooking Poulsbo.
