Joining the North Kitsap Herald as its newest general assignment reporter is Ken Park.
Coming from White Salmon, Wash. Park has spent the last two years reporting with the White Salmon Enterprise, covering city government, school district news and community events.
“White Salmon is a really small town of about 2,500 people, when I started working at the Enterprise, I thought I knew everything about the place, ” Park said.
“While working as a journalist I really got to know the community and the city and that’s an experience I hope to have again while working here in Poulsbo.”
Park earned his B.A. degree in Social Media Management from Evergreen State College in Olympia in 2015 and is currently working on his Masters degree in Professional Journalism from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
“After my first year at The Enterprise, I think I realized that Journalism was something I was meant to do. So I decided that it would be worthwhile to pursue my masters in Journalism and I’m very glad I made that decision,” Park said.
Park, for the most part, grew up in the Pacific Northwest attending both Columbia High School in White Salmon and The Northwest School in Seattle.
“Washington has always been home. When I was a kid, 4 or 5 years old, I lived in Pennsylvania for a bit and when I was in middle school I lived in California, but I was always so happy to come back to Washington,” Park said.
When he’s not working or studying Park can be found checking out local breweries, cheering on the Seahawks and Sounders, or walking around with his dogs Lizzie and Tova.
“My cousin got me into checking out breweries and craft brewing in general. I haven’t made my own beer yet, but it’s something I want to try sometime.”
