On March 19, tens of thousands of people all over America attended âNew Priorities Vigilsâ in their communities orgnanized by MoveOn.Org members, to not only mark the five years of the Iraq War, but also to remember the casualties of war and ask for changes in national priorities. Pictured here, a group gathered for a vigil at the Kingston ferry terminal to remind those coming and going from the boats of the costs of war. Last month, the number of U.S. casualties in the Iraq War reached 4,000; nearly 30,000 serving there were wounded. The cost of the Iraq War is estimated to be over $500 billion so far with spending reaching nearly $350 million per day. The Iraq War has lasted longer than both World Wars I and II.
