POULSBO — The more than 200 sixth-graders who still need to be vaccinated can get their shots at school district sponsored immunization clinic.
Chris Case, North Kitsap School District director of communications, said there will be a Kitsap Health District nurse will be at Poulsbo Middle and at Kingston Middle during registration. Parents can either opt to take advantage of the free immunizations or can sign a waiver form so their students can start school on Sept. 3. Parents or guardians must be present to sign the permission or waiver forms during registration.
Incoming sixth-grade students at PMS and KMS need a current certificate of immunization (CIS) or a signed waiver before they can pick up their school schedules. The new immunization requirements require sixth-graders to have an additional Tdap immunization and either a varicella immunization or information that the student already has had chickenpox.
PMS sixth-graders can update their immunization during Panther Preview, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.on Aug. 28.
KMS sixth graders can update their immunizations during Cav Info Day, 1 to 4 p.m, Sept. 2.
“Procrastination seems to be a pattern all over Kitsap County,” according to a prepared statement from the district. “Over 300 sixth graders in Bremerton and South Kitsap School District have also received free immunizations in the past week from the Health District.”
