Helen Emma Marie Fojtik died July 25 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. She was 94.
She was born Helen Emma Striteski in Cicero, Ill. on May 22, 1914. Raised in Chicago, she worked in a manufacturing plant and then as a bookkeeper before marrying Jerry Fojtik and moving to Honolulu and later Bremerton. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Fojtik was an active community volunteer with the Boy Scouts as a Cub Scout den leader, Bremerton PTA and PTSA Council, where she was a Golden Acorn award recipient, Navy Relief Society, Bremerton Naval Museum and a member of Royal Neighbors of America and Blue Star Mothers. She was a resident of Canterbury Manor and enjoyed an active social life, most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and playing pinochle with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Jerry. She is survived by three sons: Richard (Sandy) of Bremerton, Robert (Jackie) of Bremerton and Gerry of Spokane; six grandchildren: Rick Fojtik (Rachyl) of Puyallup, Keri Fojtik of Bellevue, Mark Fojtik of Bremerton, and Jacob, Ryan and Virginia Fojtik of Spokane.
