Olalla man injured in motorcycle wreck

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of a motorcycle accident that seriously injured a South Kitsap man on March 22.

OLALLA — Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of a motorcycle accident that seriously injured a South Kitsap man on March 22.

According to Sgt. Ken Dickinson, KCSO spokesman, traffic investigators reported there was no indication of alcohol or drugs involved in the wreck that injured Matthew Smith, 33, of Olalla.

Smith was transported to Tacoma General Hospital by a South Kitsap Fire and Rescue medic unit in critical condition.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Smith remained in serious condition, but conscious, according to Marce Edwards, hospital spokesperson.

Dickinson said Smith was riding his 2002 Honda VFR 800 north on Olalla Valley Road when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a mailbox. The accident happened about 5:25 p.m.

Dickinson said no blood test was given to Smith and it would be determined later if any charges will be filed against Smith.
