SILVERDALE – Sympathy cards may be in order for employees of the Hallmark store in Kitsap Mall.
Store manager Sanoe Kealoha, who has worked there for 14 years, said the store will close its doors March 25. She said the store employed 10 part-time workers and one full-time employee.
“As far as I know there are no plans to move any place else. We are closing permanently,” she said.
The store is a corporate-owned Hallmark, Kealoha said. According to Hallmark’s web site about 400 of the 2,250 total Hallmark stores in the U.S. are corporate-owned, and the remaining 1,850 are privately-owned.
One of those privately-owned stores is Paula’s Hallmark, located at 2890 NW Bucklin Hill Road in Silverdale. Paula’s will remain open.
Kealoha said she thought the mall store was closing because management could not reach a deal on a new lease.
But it’s not all bad news, she said.
“There is a good sale going on,” she said. “Everything in the store is half-off with an handful of exceptions.”
