GIG HARBOR – Nighttime drivers traveling in both directions of State Route 16 across the Tacoma Narrows Bridges should plan for lane closures two nights this week for bridge and toll equipment maintenance.

At 8 p.m. on May 21 and May 22, toll plaza crews will close the on-ramp from 24th Street Northwest to eastbound SR 16. Two hours later at 10 p.m., crews will close all of the eastbound Good To Go! electronic toll lanes.

The eastbound lanes and the 24th Street Northwest on-ramp to eastbound SR 16 will reopen by 5 a.m. each following morning. During the closures all vehicles will be detoured through the toll booths.

Also at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Olympic Region bridge maintenance crews will close three left lanes of westbound SR 16 across the 1950 Tacoma Narrows Bridge. During the closures, crews will remove and replace broken concrete abutting an expansion joint on the west end of the bridge.

All westbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. May 23.
