Although the 26-year-old Bremerton man struck while walking on State Highway 16 Saturday had demanded his wife pull over and let him out of the car during an argument, it was his wife who ended up taking him to the doctor.
The couple had been at a party when an argument started. The man left the party and began walking until the woman was able to find him and convince him to get into the car, according to State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Krista Hedstrom. The argument continued and, while on the highway, the man demanded the woman pull over and let him out of the car at about 11:36 p.m.
“He then walked into traffic and got hit,” Hedstrom wrote in an e-mail. “This actually happens quite often. Well, they usually don’t get hit … but same scenario.”
The man was struck in the left leg by the right front tire of a 2004 Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old Port Orchard man.
The woman took the injured man to Group Health Urgent Care in Port Orchard. He was then taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
