OK, so the pun is pretty bad but if you can think up a better song for the potato slicing men and women of First Lutheran Church, be our guest. The bottom line either way is these folks’ task of peeling, cutting and mashing 200 pounds of potatoes is no small feat.
These hard working spudders have been working behind the scenes for years and years and are all too often overlooked when thanks go out to those who make the church’s annual — and wildly popular — lutefisk dinner such a rousing success.
The tater team’s tremendous contributions are truly noteworthy. Without them there’d be no lefse at the dinner.
Repeat. No lefse. Who can imagine a traditional Norwegian dinner of lutefisk without a warm side of lefse at the ready?
Despite, providing these perfectly proportioned potatoes, this promising pack is unsatisfied with simply peeling 200 pounds.
They’ll be back at it prior to the Oct. 16 dinner to pounce on a stack of some 600 more for the potato side dish. After all, who can imagine eating lutefisk and lefse without some delicious spuds?
So to the folks who peel, cut, mash, repeat. Peel, cut, mash, repeat and so on and so on, we’d just like to say thanks much. Your potato prowess is second to none.
