BREMERTON — YWCA Kitsap County’s 2016 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, held July 9 at the Evergreen Park in Bremerton, attracted dozens of men, women and children to the event.

Teams from Olympic College, Bremerton Police Department and more donned high-heels and other feminine footwear for the trek to raise awareness and support for victims of domestic violence in Kitsap County.

At the end of the walk, awards were given for highest heel, most spirit (individual and team) and best-decorated shoes (individual and team).

For the highest heel, two Bremerton Police detectives, who were both wearing 6-inch heels, competed in a “walk off,” during which the two strutted their stuff in a runway-style walk and danced to music. One took a fall, earning him the title after judges took sympathy.
