PORT ORCHARD — The gazebo was rocking Thursday night with the jazzy sounds of the band The Tonze, which was part of the Concerts by the Bay performance summer series at Waterfront Park.
Whether it was viewed as a welcome change from weeks of hot, sunny weather — or a forebearer of fall — temperatures in the 60s and cloudy skies had concertgoers wearing light jackets and long pants. Regardless, people mostly filled the bleachers overlooking the gazebo and the grassy lawn in front of the stage.
But the cooler weather didn’t stop the stage from sizzling with the sounds of the quartet of jazz musicians, who jumped from jazz standards to playing their own, modern pieces.
Just a handful of concerts remain in the summer season: Aug. 9, Easy Breeze (easy listening music); Aug. 16, Celtic Spoon (Irish folk/pop); Aug. 23, Joey Jewell (Sinatra); and Aug. 30, Illusion of Danny Vernon (Elvis).
All performances run from 6:30-8 p.m.
