PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County’s Department of Community Development will host an open house regarding a proposed agricultural code at 4:15 p.m. July 7 in the Commissioners Chambers, Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division St.

Local agricultural interests and county planners developed a preliminary draft agriculture code which addresses primary and accessory agricultural uses, and agritourism. According to the county, the purpose of the proposed code is to support agricultural interests while balancing agricultural uses with other rural and urban land uses in Kitsap County.

Following the open house, at 5:30 p.m., the county Planning Commission will have a public hearing on the proposed code, also in the Commissioners Chambers.Written and verbal public comments will be accepted during the public hearing. County commissioners will also receive public comments once the Planning Commission forwards its final recommendations.
