There will be plenty of Fourth of July events in Port Orchard and surrounding areas on July 4.
The annual Fathoms o’Fun Grand Fireworks Show, sponsored by Wave Broadband, is set for 10:30 p.m. on the Sinclair Inlet. The fireworks show has been sponsored by Wave Broadband for eight years and draws crowds of more than 60,000 people along the waterfronts of Port Orchard, Bremerton and surrounding areas.
From 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., live music is schedule at the gezebo at Marina Waterfront Park. Various Christian rock groups will perform from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, followed by DJ Joe Frank from 5:30-7 p.m. and Common Ground will play from 8:30-10:30 p.m.

Here are other events planned in the surrounding areas:
• Bainbridge Island’s annual Grand Old Fourth of July will begin at 7 p.m. with a pancake breakfast, followed by a street fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There also will be a car show, historic baseball game, live music, entertainment and a mile-long parade at 1 p.m. Family entertainment includes children’s shows, pony rides, bouncy house, miniature golf and more. Fireworks will begin roughly at 10:20 p.m. over Eagle Harbor, near Pritchard Park.
• Kingston’s Tiny Town Festival gets underway with its “Best of the West” theme, along with rides, a fund run, food, parade and fireworks. See www.kingstontinytown.com for more information.
• Rock of The Bay Freedom Festival, in Seabeck, will begin with live music on the pier featuring local bands. Bands will play from noon to 10:15 p.m., a boat parade is set for 3:30 p.m. and the fireworks show is 10:15 p.m.
• Join Alderbrook Resort Spa, 7101 E. State Highway 106 in Union, for “Thunder on the Canal” from noon to 11 p.m. Activities include a barbecue, beer garden, fish fry, chair massages, live music and the annual Oyster Eating Contest at 7 p.m. The fireworks show is set for 10:20 p.m.
• On Friday and Saturday, Port Gamble will host Old Mill Days that will feature food, carnival, car show, logging show and two nights of fireworks. Go to www.oldmilldays.com for schedule of events.
Foot ferries holiday schedule
The Port Orchard to Bremerton foot ferry will operate 3 p.m. to midnight on July 4.
On July 5, the ferry will run from 8-10:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 6.
The fare is $2 cash per person each way and children under age 5 ride free. Ferries depart Port Orchard on the hour and half hour, and 15 minutes before and after each other from Bremerton.
State ferry traffic
Washington State Ferries is advising ferry travelers to plan for heavy traffic on the days leading up the the Fourth of July.
Drivers can expect the longest lines at ferry terminals on westbound sailings through July 4. Heavy traffic is expected for eastbound sailings on July 6. Drivers should expect longer-than-average wait times at ferry docks and Canadian border crossings for most of the holiday weekend, officials said.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, most construction projects around the state will be suspended until noon July 7. For schedule details and wait times please check the WSF website.
