PO man killed in Monday night crash

A Port Orchard man was killed in a car accident Monday night on Sedgwick Road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Joshua D. Heuer, 23, was driving northbound on Bodle Road around 9:20 p.m. March 2 in a 1985, 2-door BMW toward Sedgwick Road.

When Heuer’s vehicle turned on Sedgwick Road/State-Route 160, it collided with a vehicle headed eastbound, driven by a 19-year-old Port Orchard woman.

Heuer, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Tacoma General Hospital with serious injuries. He later died.

The driver of the other vehicle was wearing her seatbelt and suffered abrasions from the belt, along with a sore neck and ankle. She was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.

The roadway was close for two hours while troopers investigated the scene. The cause of the accident is unknown, and investigators said it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
