The Port Orchard Bay Street Association is hosting its SeaFeast Dinner and Auction Aug. 6 to raise funds for the business organization.
The event will take place at 5 p.m. at Port Orchard’s Lighthouse restaurant. The event will kick off with a silent auction where attendees can bid on “Bobbie Baskets” valued at over $500 each.
Each auction basket will be sponsored by a local charity, with half the proceeds from each basket sold will be donated to that organization.
Dinner will be served on the table family style and will include Alaskan snow crab, jumbo shrimp, steamer clams, Penn Cove mussels, sausage, corn and potatoes.
Tickets are available for $50 each ($58.80 with fees and tax) through strangertickets.com. Search on the site for POBSA.
Proceeds from the dinner benefit POBSA and its programs to improve downtown Port Orchard. The organization has hopes of raising $5,000 through a combination of ticket sales and auction bids. A limit of 100 tickets will be sold for the event.
POBSA has been a voice of downtown businesses for more than 15 years. In the past three years, the organization’s membership has increased from less than 40 businesses to almost 100 members, according to Bobbie Stewart, POBSA president.
Stewart said POBSA’s mission is to encourage a strong local economy and quality of life by supporting community events, sponsoring business-related activities, improving the appearance of downtown and encouraging tourism.
Each year the organization sponsors the beautification of downtown Port Orchard by supplying hanging baskets and flowers along Bay Street, as well as hosting events such as Ladies Night Out, Taste of Port Orchard and First Friday celebrations from May to October.
