Deputies from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office successfully pursued and apprehended the suspect of an alleged vehicle shooting in the early morning of March 16.
Bremerton police first responded to the shooting, which occurred in the Bay Vista neighborhood in Bremerton a few minutes after midnight. Police then spotted the suspect’s van on Chico Way and probable cause led to the authorization of a police pursuit.
The chase took KCSO deputies throughout Central Kitsap and Bremerton, and the van was successfully spiked by police on the Warren Avenue Bridge. The suspect continued to drive on the flattened tires until he abandoned the vehicle at Tracyton Beach and fled.
The suspect was located again in the water by a Washington State Patrol airplane and a Mason County K-9 unit, attempting to swim away. Police quickly caught him in the water, returned him to the beach and arrested him there.
KCSO is investigating the suspect for felony eluding, while Bremerton police detectives are investigating the shooting. The suspect is being held at the Kitsap County Jail on a $550,000 bail.
