Bremerton police vehicle collides with Buick
A Bremerton Police vehicle collided with another vehicle at Sixth Street and Wycoff Avenue in Bremerton at about 11:40 p.m. June 30.
The 53-year-old Bremerton officer was traveling westbound on Sixth Street with the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria’s light and sirens activated. A 1992 Buick Century, driven by an 18-year-old Bremerton man, was stopped southbound on Wycoff Avenue, waiting to turn left onto eastbound Sixth Street.
The traffic light for the Buick turned green and the car began to turn onto eastbound Sixth Street. The police car and Buick collided in the middle of the intersection.
The Bremerton officer was transported by Harrison Medical Center with facial abrasions and a hand injury. An 18-year-old Port Orchard man who was riding inside the police vehicle also was transported to Harrison with minor injuries.
The Buick driver was transported to Harrison with a head injury. All three men were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Kitsap Way and Wycoff Avenue were closed for more than three hours. Washington State Patrol is investigating the collision.

Sheriff’s deputies and Bremerton Police officers responded to a stabbing in the 3200 block of Perry Avenue NE in East Bremerton at 12:50 a.m. June 24.
A 29-year-old East Bremerton woman called 911 from a gas station pay phone after she stabbed her 26-year-old boyfriend. She said the man pushed her, called her names and dared her to stab him.
The man said he and his girlfriend were arguing inside their house when she just stabbed him in the leg. The woman said he hit and pushed her, but the man denied doing so.
The woman told a deputy she and her boyfriend were at a barbecue with friends that night and her boyfriend left early. She stopped at the store to get beer on the way home and said he was upset she got home so late.
They argued in the bedroom and the woman said he pushed her and threw her inside a closet. She grabbed a kitchen knife and told him to leave her alone. She said her boyfriend then started taunting her and telling her to stab him.
The man left the house and the woman locked him out. He reportedly kicked open the front door to get back inside. The woman said her kept pushing her and calling her names, daring her to stab him.
She then chased him into the living room and stabbed him in the leg.
“I guess he just said one too many things and I snapped,” the woman told a deputy.
The man was transported to Harrison Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
The woman was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree assault. She was later released.
Man on a mission
A sheriff’s deputy spoke with an 18-year-old East Bremerton man on the phone in reference to threats around 7:45 p.m. June 23.
The man said he just received a phone call from his friends at Kitsap Mall who told him a 17-year-old East Bremerton boy had a gun and threatened to kill him. The 18-year-old said he believed the teen would hurt him because he thinks he raped his sister.
The deputy then spoke with a teenage girl who was at the mall when the threat was made. She said she and several friends were talking about the 18-year-old when the 17-year-old heard them mention his name. He asked them where the 18-year-old lived, one girl told him, then the 17-year-old walked over to his belongings and pulled something out of his backpack. He then pulled his shirt up, revealing a pistol in the waistband of his pants. He said he was going to shoot the 18-year-old for raping his sister.
Deputies patrolled Silverdale looking for the teen and found him at Silverdale Waterfront Park with three other people.
Deputies took the teen into custody and found a pellet gun in his waistband. He also had alcohol in his backpack.
The teen told a deputy he didn’t say he was going to kill the 18-year-old, but “beat his (expletive deleted).”
The teen was arrested and booked into juvenile detention for felony harassment and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
Check bandit
Sheriff’s deputies responded to Bank of America inside Safeway on Bethel Road SE in South Kitsap shortly after 6 p.m. June 23 regarding a woman trying to cash a stolen check.
The bank employee said the 29-year-old Bremerton woman tried to cash a check for $882.11, but it looked like the writing on the check had been changed.
A deputy placed the Bremerton woman into custody and found numerous credit/debit cards, a check and deposit slip in different names inside her wallet. She said the items were laying around at her girlfriend’s house and she picked them up to hold them for her.
The woman used to be involved in mail thefts, but she said she no longer did that.
A deputy contacted the owners of some credit cards in the woman’s possession and they said they had problems with their account the week before and the bank was supposed to send them new cards. They had not received them in the mail yet.
The deputy also contacted a man about a check found in the woman’s wallet. The man said he did write that check and put it in his mailbox several nights before to be picked up by the postal service.
The woman was arrested and booked into jail for possession of stolen property, identity theft, forgery, second-degree possession of stolen property, second-degree driving with a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. Her bail is set at $35,000.
