Afternoon DUI
A 50-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail for DUI following a two-car collision on Perry Avenue Nov. 25.
At 3:40 p.m., the driver’s white Honda Accord was traveling northbound when it began making a left turn into a parking lot. An oncoming SUV, traveling southbound, struck the Accord.
No injuries were reported.
When asked by a police officer if he had had anything to drink, the driver of the Accord said he had one beer three hours prior to the accident.
He refused to take a field sobriety test and was subsequently taken to jail. His bail was set at $5,000.
When rage and alcohol mix
Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a woman on NE Center Street Nov. 24, who reported her intoxicated boyfriend had struck her in the face with a baseball bat that had been thrown through a window.
The woman was bleeding with multiple lacerations from glass fragmentation to her face and chest.
The man had escaped on foot to another residence, but was tracked down by deputies.
The man, who reportedly was suicidal, was transported to the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, where he underwent surgery for lacerations to his neck, both wrists and three stab wounds to the chest.
At the time of the arrest, there was probable cause to charge him with second-degree assault and second-degree malicious mischief.
Vehicle stolen, found in Seabeck
A blue Volvo that was stolen from a Seabeck home just before Thanksgiving, was found two days later.
The suspects apparently forced open the garage door and broke into the pedestrian door leading into the home, located on Cadmar Lane NW, where they found the keys. Other items reportedly stolen from the home included three firearms and jewelry.
The vehicle was later found on Priddy Vista Road, where it had been parked for two days. The key was in the ignition when the vehicle was found. Neither the guns nor the other stolen objects were in the car.
Of STD’s and harassment
A 17-year-old-girl reported to local police authorities that her boyfriend had refused to leave her home at Fairside Place NW in East Bremerton Nov. 19.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived, the girl said her boyfriend, a 21-year-old Kingston man, had left. The deputies subsequently entered the residence, where the girl’s grandmother told them he was still at the home.
The girl then told the police he had strangled and hit her during their two-month relationship. The argument that afternoon, which was not physical, began when he accused her of giving him an STD.
He was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass and taken to jail, where bail was set at $20,000. He also was charged with interfering with the reporting of domestic violence because he had grabbed her cellphone when she reported the incident.
Hours later, the girl reported threatening calls from the jail from him, as well as from his grandmother.
