in his pants
A 28-year-old Bremerton woman called police shortly before 1 a.m. Aug. 30 reporting someone tried to break into her home in the 2900 block of NE Yale Way.
The woman told a sheriff’s deputy a man tried to push his way into her home and there was a party going on at a nearby residence. She called her husband, who rushed home and armed himself with a stick in the front yard.
The woman said she heard a knock on her front door, heard grunting and when she opened the door, a man wearing no pants tried to push his way inside. He grabbed at her, scratching her arms, before she grabbed him around the neck and shoved him outside.
Deputies confirmed a 22-year-old USS Abraham Lincoln sailor was the man who tried to come inside the home. He was heavily intoxicated, standing in the street wearing just a gray shirt.
The man was “completely incoherent,” according to a police report, and “his odor of alcohol was quite pungent.” The man had urinated in his pants, took them off and left them in the street.
The deputy noted the man was completely unaware what was going on and turned him over to his friends rather than arrest him.
A report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
Sticky fingers
A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to TJ Maxx in Silverdale for a report of shoplifting shortly before 5 p.m. Sept. 1. The suspect was last seen walking toward the Dollar Tree.
The store manager told the deputy he watched the 26-year-old Tacoma man pick out a white shirt, conceal it and leave the store.
Deputies found the man behind Michaels. He told a deputy he was in TJ Maxx, but didn’t take anything. He said he’s not a thief and told the deputy he could search him.
A deputy walked around the corner and found a shopping cart with a white, sleeveless girl’s shirt with a $7.99 TJ Maxx tag attached to it.
The man was arrested and booked into jail for third-degree theft. He was later released.
Another reason
to see his lawyer
A sheriff’s deputy ran a routine vehicle registration check on a car traveling eastbound on Kitsap Way near Lyle Avenue in Bremerton at 8:15 a.m. Aug. 31.
The deputy discovered the 21-year-old Bremerton man’s driver’s license was suspended for a DUI.
He stopped the vehicle and the man said he knew his license was suspended, but he had an appointment with his lawyer. He also admitted to being cited two days before for driving with a suspended license. He still had the citation in the vehicle.
The man’s mother picked up his car and the deputy called the man’s lawyer to tell him his client would not make it to their scheduled appointment.
The man was arrested and booked into jail for third-degree driving with a suspended license. He was later released.
Happy anniversary from jail
A 31-year-old Seabeck woman called police shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 31 when a man she has a protection order against contacted her via telephone from Kitsap County Jail.
The woman told a sheriff’s deputy she received multiple phone calls from an unknown number and when she checked her voicemail, she discovered the calls came from the county jail.
She answered the next call and it was the 29-year-old man she has a protection order against. He said he called to wish her a happy anniversary and proceeded to repeatedly ask her to marry him.
The woman told the deputy when they argued in the past, the man would lay guns in front of her and ask her if she was dumb enough to call the police. The deputy discovered the man called her nine times from the jail. He listened to one voicemail from the man and the first thing he said was, “Hey, I know I’m not supposed to call.”
The deputy spoke with the man in jail. He said he just called the woman to arrange care for their dogs. The deputy asked him again why he contacted the woman. He replied, “Stupidity.”
He is in jail for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and violation of a protection order. His bail is set at $20,000.
