Fender bender
A 21-year-old Silverdale woman, driving a 2005 Ford Focus, rear-ended another car, causing a chain reaction, around 3 p.m. June 2 on eastbound State Route 166 from State Route 16 in Port Orchard.
The 1990 Volvo, driven by a 21-year-old Port Orchard woman, and a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by a 56-year-old Bremerton man were stopped waiting for a vehicle to turn left into a driveway. The Silverdale woman was unable to stop the Ford Focus and rear-ended the Volvo, which rear-ended the Ford Ranger.
The Ford Focus and Volvo were totaled and the Silverdale woman was transported to Harrison Medical Center with neck, back and pelvic pain.
The Silverdale woman was charged with speeding too fast for road conditions.
Asleep at
the wheel
A Bremerton Police officer observed a white minivan driving westbound on 8th Street and Veneta Avenue turn right onto Veneta in Bremerton without stopping at the stop sign.
The officer stopped the 37-year-old Bremerton man driving the vehicle on 10th Street and the man said he didn’t see the sign, but he lives down the street.
The officer asked the man how he can live a block away from the stop sign and not know it was there.
The man replied, “I’m barely awake right now.”
The man’s driver’s license was suspended and the female passenger in the minivan drove the vehicle away from the scene. The man was verbally warned for failing to stop at a stop sign.
The telltale eyes
A Bremerton Police officer on 6th Street and High Avenue in Bremerton shortly before 6 p.m. May 30 when he observed a red car traveling westbound on 6th driving faster than the posted 25 mph speed limit.
The 24-year-old female driver drove past the officer, turned southbound on Hewitt Avenue, made eye contact with the officer and looked away quickly.
The officer stopped the vehicle and the woman seemed nervous because she was sweating profusely, biting her lip and fidgeting inside the vehicle.
The officer didn’t say anything to the woman, but she said, “My gas pedal sticks.”
The woman was arrested and booked into jail for several outstanding warrants and is serving a sentence.
