Rolled in the rain

A 19-year-old Bremerton man was traveling on State Route 3, 2 miles southwest of Bremerton, at 9:35 p.m. Nov. 16 when he hydroplaned, losing control of his vehicle.

He struck a jersey barrier and exited the roadway to the right. His vehicle, a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, rolled several times, hit a tree and came to a rest on its roof. He sustained lacerations to his hands. His passenger, a 19-year-old Portland man, was transported to Tacoma General Hospital with abdominal pain. The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Both men were wearing their seatbelts.

Run man, run!

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a physical domestic dispute between a man and woman around 1:45 a.m. Nov. 7 at Old Town Bistro on NW Byron Street in Silverdale. A 23-year-old Silverdale man had thrown a set of keys at his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend, striking her in the face.

When deputies arrived, the man yelled “No way!” and took off running through Old Town Silverdale.

The man hurdled fences and kept running toward the Yacht Club Broiler on Bayshore Drive.

At one point, a deputy had the man on the ground, but he jumped up and continued running. A bystander asked the deputy if he could help. The deputy responded, “Yes.”

The 37-year-old male bystander ran after the suspect and told him to stop. The suspect collided with the bystander, knocking him over and shattering a plastic lawn chair.

The deputy eventually used pepper spray to subdue the man and handcuff him near the Yacht Club Broiler.

The woman told a deputy she and her ex-boyfriend were arguing when he grabbed her keys out of her pocket and threw them at her face, striking her in the left eye.

The man was arrested and booked into jail for fourth-degree assault.
