John Poppe announced last week his candidacy for Port of Bremerton District 1 commissioner District 1.
“I will run an aggressive campaign that will give voters a chance to elect a hard-charging, no-nonsense elected official,” he stated in his press release.
In his announcement, Poppe stated that he is “a small businessman who clearly understands what it takes to implement a business plan from concept to a revenue generating activity.”
Poppe owns two corporations based in Kitsap County.
Poppe is commissioner of Silverdale Water District, commissioner of the Kitsap County Civil Service Commission for Sheriff Department, vice chair of Kitsap County Solid Waste Committee, vice chair of the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center, member of Department of Ecology Water Reuse Rule Making Committee, Planning Committee for the Clear Creek Trail, Reclaimed Water Resources Manager for Kitsap Public Utility District.
Poppe stated he has been a Kitsap County resident for more than 25 years and has experience as a businessman, asset management and with environmental issues.
“This provides the voters of Kitsap County a leader with real experience and a strong desire to make the community a better place to live,” Poppe said.
