Port Gamble’s lighting up the town for the holidays

This year’s Port Gamble Country Christmas celebrates a decade of lighting up the historic town with two days of traditional Christmas activities including local arts and crafts for sale, horse-drawn carriage rides, a new Roasted Chestnut Caroling Competition, the annual fruitcake contest, visits with Santa, collections for Toys for Tots, and more.

Dec. 13

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arts and crafts vendors, horse-drawn carriage rides, the Sakila Sponsorship Giving Tree, Roasted Chestnut Caroling Contest and collections for Toys for Tots.

1-3 p.m. Fruitcake contest (see www.portgamble.com for rules).

5-6 p.m. Tree lighting by Santa Claus, followed by fireworks.

Dec. 14

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arts and crafts vendors, horse-drawn carriage rides and the Sakila Sponsorship Giving Tree.

1-3 p.m. Cookie decorating.

A new event, the Roasted Chestnuts Caroling Contest, will be at Port Gamble’s Country Christmas from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 13.

Local singing groups are invited to participate.

All proceeds benefit Toys for Tots.

Prizes will be awarded Dec. 14 in categories for most toys donated, people’s choice, best dressed and best all around.
