Proposed increases in guest moorage fees and in live-aboard fees at the Port Orchard and Bremerton marinas will be discussed Tuesday by the Port of Bremerton board of commissioners.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bremerton National Airport, 8850 S.W. Highway 3, in Bremerton.

Port officials said the guest moorage fees have not been raised since 2011 and plans to raise them could mean another $25,140 for the port. Rates are being increased from $30 to $36 per night with additional per-foot charges based on size of boat and location.

Also under consideration is an increase of $15, from $60 to $75 per month, for live-aboard fees at the Port Orchard marina. That would bring in about $8,000 to the port. There has not been an increase in those rates since 2010.

Kathy Garcia, marina operations manager, said even with the proposed increases in rates,  both marinas will be competitive with others in  the area.

Also on the agenda is an update from the consultant for the Bremerton Marina and a discussion of port priorities in the coming 2014 state legislative session.

One other item commissioners will address is a resolution that clarifies that, although marijuana is now consumable in Washington state due to the passage of Initiative 502, the port will not allow any tenant to cultivate, store, distribute, sell or use marijuana on port property.

The port plans to adhere to federal law which makes marijuana illegal under the Controlled Substance Act.
