Port of Kingston needs DeBoer

If anyone was to have an apparent clone in Kingston, it might just be Pete DeBoer. The guy seems to be at least two places at once at any given time. Maybe it’s just a twin.

Either way, the fella’s on the go.

Which is a good thing for the Port of Kingston.

Pete’s thrown his hat (or at least one of the many he wears in the greater Kingston community) into the ring for port commissioner Position 2.

He’s got a good grasp on what it takes to make his town succeed, knows the players and has ideas that will likely bear fruit.

He’s involved in the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Kingston Kiwanis, the Kingston Cove Yacht Club and is a business owner with a vested interest in the town. Pete’s involvement doesn’t stop there, though.

He has been going the extra yard for his community for years and there’s no reason why he’ll let up this long-standing trend should he be elected as port commissioner.

The Port of Kingston needs some direction. With the surprise and controversial firing of long-time manager Gary Johnston and appointment of harbormaster Ed Hall, the waters of Appletree Cove are rippling with changes.

We feel Pete has the business sense, the ties to the community and the no-nonsense approach needed to ensure these ripples don’t turn into stormy seas for the port.

We’re happy to support his bid for commissioner and know he will do the best possible job he can if elected. If anyone was to have an apparent clone in Kingston, it might just be Pete DeBoer. The guy seems to be at least two places at once at any given time. Maybe it’s just a twin.
