Port Orchard police nabbed a pair of presumed burglars and their getaway car driver last weekend.
They found the man and woman suspected of robbing the Plisco Lane house near the scene at 3:21 a.m. on Saturday, and they saw a white Chevy S-10 leaving the area.
The first officer to arrive detained the couple, while other officers searched the area for the truck, according to police.
They found it at the Vista Motel on Bethel Avenue, and they found a man hiding nearby shortly thereafter, according to police.
When they questioned him, he allegedly said he came from the Everett area with his boss and his boss’s girlfriend to work on a roofing job near Veteran’s Park.
The three got into town around 2 p.m. the day before and planned to “hang out” until the next day, he allegedly said.
At first, he had no idea that couple planned to rob the house, he allegedly told police.
The two allegedly told him they were going to “do their thing,” and he assumed they planned go into the woods and have sex, according to police. So he allegedly stayed in the truck.
His boss then returned from the house and told him it had a bunch of “stuff” in it, and the couple brought out bags of goods for several hours according to police. He said he didn’t know how many times the couple entered and exited the house, according to police.
When police told him they considered him an accomplice because he didn’t do anything to stop the robbery, he said, “You’re right. I should have left,” according to police.
Police booked all three into jail.
Bail for the suspected getaway car driver was set at $10,000 for possessing stolen property.
The other male suspect’s bail was set at $51,500 bail, and he’s accused of several crimes.
The female is suspected of burglary and her bail was set at $50,000.
