Suspect crashes motorcycle on SR 106.

PORT ORCHARD — Three stolen vehicles, including a motorcycle ridden by a Port Orchard man, were recovered by Washington State Patrol troopers this week.

A motorcycle ridden by a 30-year-old Port Orchard man crashed into a ditch on State Route 106 at milepost 18 in Mason County. According to the State Patrol, the rider fled on foot and was later located hiding behind a vehicle in a nearby driveway by troopers and firefighters following the accident, which took place at 6:43 p.m. on Sept. 25.

The man was taken into custody and is accused of possession of a stolen vehicle, drug possession/paraphernalia and other possible charges. The case has been referred to the Mason County prosecutor’s office.

At 9:28 p.m. on Sept. 26, a blue 2001 Chrysler Sebring was reported stolen from Port Angeles. The vehicle was later found in the ditch on northbound State Route 101 near Lake Pleasant Road.

A passerby in a silver 2001 Ford Ranger pickup stopped to assist the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Skylar W. Vestal, who allegedly got into the pickup and drove southbound on State Route 101 toward Forks. No threats were made to the passerby, according to Trooper Chelsea Hodgson of the State Patrol.

Vestal allegedly continued southbound for approximately seven miles until he was stopped and detained by Forks Police Department officers without incident. Troopers later placed Vestal into custody under the suspicion of two counts of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence and driving while having a license suspended in the third degree. He was booked in Clallam County Jail.
