A winning Powerball lottery ticket worth more than $1 million dollars was purchased at the Fred Meyer on Sedgwick Road, the Washington State Lottery reported Tuesday.

Jim Warick, the Deputy Director of the Washington Lottery, said Harry Denton of Port Orchard won $1,000,004 in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.

Warick said that the 57-year-old Denton and his wife plan to “pay it forward.”

“He’s going to buy his son a new car,” he said. “He and his wife also believe that no one should go hungry. They plan to donate a portion of their winnings to the Salvation Army.”

Axel Strakeljahn, Port Commissioner and Fred Meyer’s store director, said that he was aware the ticket had been sold, but didn’t know too much about it. He said he heard Denton was in the store on Tuesday to shake the hand of the person who sold him the winning ticket.

“I didn’t hear too much about it,” he said. “He wasn’t in here throwing out $100 bills or anything like that.”
