The Port Orchard Post Office annual holiday food drive is Nov. 8.
Individuals can leave non-perishable food items next to their mailbox of pick up by postal mail carriers.
Suggested food items are boxed dinners (macaroni and cheese or Hamburger Helper-style meals) canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats (tuna or chicken), pasta, rice, peanut butter, soups, stews, chili and spaghetti sauce.
Also needed are baby diapers, baby wipes, pet food, toilet paper, dish soap, shampoo, laundry soap and toothpaste.
All donations benefit South Kitsap Helpline, which help more than 15,000 families annually, according to Jennifer Hardison, executive director. SK Helpline distributed more than 1.3 million pounds of food last year.
