Tree squashes house in wind storm

A 130-foot tree fell onto a house on Caldart Avenue, near Raab Park, during heavy wind Monday night.

The man residing there was in his basement at about 7 p.m., when the incident occurred. He was not hurt.

Poulsbo Fire Department responded and found the tree had destroyed windows and the front porch.

“The home owner was very fortunate to have not been injured or worse this evening,” said Battalion Chief Jeff Russell.

Suquamish stabbing slashes face

A 25-year-old Kingston resident, on his way home from the grocery store June 3, was stabbed in the face by an unknown white male.

The man said as he was walking down Augusta Avenue he saw the man, described as about 5-foot 10, with a thin mustache, wearing a black hoodie with a logo similar to “Adidas,” walking toward him.

They brushed shoulders on the sidewalk.

According to police reports, the unidentified male mumbled something under his breath and when the Kingston man confronted him and asked what he said, the man punched him in his left jaw.

It wasn’t until he arrived home he realized he wasn’t just punched.

The slash on his cheek was one inch long and a quarter inch wide.

Police and K-9s searched the area but didn’t find the described male.

The investigation continues.

Geoducks lose their heads

A 41-year-old Bremerton man was caught slicing off geoduck necks and re-burying them on private beach property in Kingston.

When deputies confronted the man, decked out in orange rain gear, he refused to give them his name and crossed his arms against his chest so deputies couldn’t handcuff him.

A Washington State Patrol Wildlife officer arrived and questioned the man about the shellfish harvesting complaint.

The man admitted to harvesting the geoducks by cutting off the necks and leaving the bodies in the sand.

According to police reports the man was taken to jail but released on personal recognizance.
