POULSBO — Joshua S. Sutherland, 29, of Poulsbo, is charged in Kitsap County Superior Court with first-degree theft.

Kitsap County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of residential burglary May 27, on the 27000 block of Balmoral Place in Kingston.

The reporting party stated she heard a “banging noise” in her residence, but thought it was her husband. Shortly after, she noted the gas cap on her vehicle was broken, and when she attempted to put fuel in the vehicle, gas spilled out; it was determined the gas tank hose had been cut, according to the report.

Back at the residence, the victim noted “pry marks” on the dining room doors and a kitchen window screen missing. The  deputy lifted fingerprints from around the window, which matched Sutherland’s.

Sutherland was booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of theft and failure to appear on $30,000 bail.
