Poulsbo man in court on robbery charge

A Poulsbo man has been arrested on a warrant for first-degree robbery.

Bail is set at $300,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum life in prison and/or a $50,000 fine.

Kitsap County Superior Court records show on Oct. 24 of last year at 3 p.m. there was a robbery at the 76 Station in the 26000 block of Highway 3. A witness said a blue SUV hit a woman who was trying to stop a man from stealing her purse. Another witness said the man stole the woman’s purse and jumped into the SUV. When the woman ran from the store the vehicle knocked her to the ground.

Almost an hour earlier, the 29-year-0ld man tried to ram an unmarked patrol car near Viking Way in Poulsbo, said the detective who recognized the culprit, court papers say. About 15 minutes after the robbery a hit-and-run collision was reported at 12 Trees Lane. There was rear damage to the SUV, which ended up being a Dodge Durango.

When police arrived, the vehicle had been abandoned. Video at the 76 Station shows the suspect as the culprit. He has a history of running from law enforcement, court papers say.
