PORT ORCHARD — The man who allegedly raped a woman in a Poulsbo home and was then shot by the homeowner has pleaded not guilty to the charge of rape.

Marshaun Jeron T. Thompson, 32, of Poulsbo was arrested and charged with third-degree rape after in an incident on Feb. 16 in a home west of Poulsbo.

Thompson will return to court for an omnibus hearing on May 1. A tentative trial date has been set for June 9.

The homeowner, Akeem Sloan, has not been charged with any crime after shooting Thompson shortly after the alleged crime.

Thompson attended a birthday party for Sloan in February and spent the night at his home after the festivities. A 44-year-old woman also spent the night, but in another room.

Thompson is accused of raping the woman, who fled to Sloan’s bedroom after the alleged incident. She was taken to the hospital by Sloan’s girlfriend, while Sloan called 911. While on the phone with dispatchers, Thompson reportedly became aggressive and refused to stop advancing toward Sloan. Thompson allegedly accused Sloan of taking the woman’s side.

When Thompson reportedly did not stop advancing, Sloan shot him while on the phone with dispatchers. The bullet passed through Thompson’s chest and exited out his arm.

Thompson then put on his shoes and walked out of the house. Police picked him up on the side of the road nearby, and took him to the hospital before arresting him on the rape charge.
