NORTH KITSAP — An 18-year-old Poulsbo man with a “poor attitude” arrested Thursday for drunken driving got an additional charge for “intentionally” urinating in the back seat of a deputy’s cruiser.
The Kitsap County deputy was called to the scene of a crash near the intersection of NE Gunderson Road and Port Gamble Road NE at about 10:38 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office report.
The man told the deputy a tree had fallen across the roadway. The car in front of him stopped, but he was unable to stop in time. The 18-year-old showed obvious signs of intoxication and had a box of Icehouse beer in his Jeep Cherokee.
The man declined to answer questions when he was arrested for investigation of drunken driving. He was placed in the back of the deputy’s car, where he began antagonizing the deputy. The man continued to struggle and the deputy responded by placing the man in leg restraints.
The man asked to be allowed to use the restroom, but the deputy refused. Along the way to the jail in Port Orchard, the man had undone his pants and urinated beneath the deputy’s seat, creating a pool about two to three millimeters deep, the report said. The suspect laughed when he told the deputy what he had done.
This took the car out of service for about 30 minutes and resulted in the deputy requesting an additional charge of second-degree malicious mischief be added to his booking charges.
