Poulsbo mobile home a total loss following fire caused by aged wiring

All residents accounted for, family dog dies

A single-wide mobile home is a total loss following a fire Oct. 10 near Poulsbo that was caused by aged wiring in a living room wall, the county fire marshal said.

Poulsbo Fire Department received a dispatch for a residential structure fire near the intersection of Pioneer Hill and Clear Creek Road. Firefighters arrived to find the mobile home with a heavily involved fire in the living room and kitchen area, per a PFD Facebook post. The fire was quickly brought under control and the residence was searched.

The adult occupant was located off the property via telephone, but the family dog was found deceased inside the home, PFD says. Crews performed K9 CPR for about 10 minutes with no change in condition.

Although some family treasures were salvaged, the home is unsalvegeable. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family of three with emergency needs, and the Humane Society responded to care for the deceased family pet, per PFD. It is unclear if the home is insured.

Additional units from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Navy Region NW Fire were dispatched to assist.
