t City’s final event marking its 100th year of government.

POULSBO — The final hoorah in a year of celebration is fast approaching, as Poulsbo wraps up its government’s Centennial commemoration this Saturday.

At 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 a Centennial Winter Gala will be co-hosted by the city’s Centennial Committee and Poulsbo Historical Society at the Sons of Norway lodge downtown.

Tickets are available for $35 at City Hall, Central Market, The Book Stop and the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce. A souvenir wine glass and wine tasting ticket are included with the purchase.

The event will follow Poulsbo’s traditional Julefest activities on the waterfront, which begin earlier in the day.

To celebrate Poulsbo’s centurion status, several events have been held throughout the year, including an opening gala in January, a downtown street dance that drew hundreds to Poulsbo’s Front Street and a day celebrating the city’s parks. Centennial Park, a green space at the corner of Iverson Street and Seventh Avenue, was also opened this year; in conjunction an art sculpture was erected and dedicated at the park.

Saturday’s event, marking the end of Poulsbo’s first full century as an incorporated city, will mirror the event held at the start of the year, which included live music and various maps, mayoral artifacts, video presentations and oral histories of Poulsbo’s past.

Wine tasting, heavy hors d’oeuvres and live music will be on hand Saturday, as well as a silent auction to benefit the Poulsbo Historical Society.

The Centennial Committee is selling T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts and pins in honor of the year. The memorabilia can be purchased at Poulsbo’s City Hall.
